Roscoea purpurea

An obscure member of the ginger Family, Roscoea is a native to the Himalayas particularly Nepal. This is a tuberous perennial that surfaces quite late in the spring then flowers late Summer into early Autumn. I have found this plant to be very easy and have big clumps both in the garden and in pots. The tubers replace themselves and increase each season.
A dry winter dormancy is critical particularly in pots
These plants are now dormant so no foliage is visible.
