Panicum virgatum var. heavy metal

One of my most favourite grasses. This is coming from someone who has grown many many different grass species, some rejected as boring others too big but heavy metal is here to stay.

The foliage is a silver grey but in very soft hues this is an easy colour in the garden and can be combines with a whole raft of other colours, its fantastic with yellow,red or orange crocosmia or equally so with Salvis in mauves, blues or reds. The height with flowers is about 1-1.5m.

Flowering occurs in late summer early autumn and carries through to late winter with sprays of tiny sea heads. I cut it to the ground when the spring growth is just beginning to surface so there is only 1 month to 6 weeks without much visible growth.
