Most of the Geranium pratense cultivars are tall somewhat unstable perennials. They are best mixed in with more self supporting plants. They look great planted with Panicum heavy metal or for a stronger contrast Geum tangerine or Carex testacea. For more confident gardeners wait until they reach 1m then cut them in half.

The pratense hybrids are taller growing and fully herbaceous. Their new foliage appears in mid spring and flowers a few weeks later. Mrs kendall clark grows to 60cm and like all of this group it likes a sheltered position in full or half sun with good rich soil.In mid summer the whole clump should be cut to the ground, its regrowth will be shorter and sturdy, a second flush of flowers may follow.
