Dicentra formosa var. bachanal

All of the Dicentra formosa hybrids are spreaders, some more vigorously than others. Bachanal falls into the vigorous category and is capable of making very large drifts. Luckily its flower colour is beautiful so the spreading tendency is forgiven.

Dicentra formosa loves thick mulch, its rhizomes spread just below the humous layer.
