Chasmanthium latifolium (northern sea oat)

I have grown this useful grass for many years and never had a seedling so it is perfectly safe. This grass grows to maybe a metre and has the most extraordinary flowers in late summer autumn, it likes good soil in part to full shade and provides a good textural contrast for other more chunky shade plants. Goes well with Clivea, spotty dotty or any of the Arisaema.

While the clumps in my garden have gradually expanded this grass has never been a nuisance.
