Aquilegia alpina

This is listed as the blue columbine, I think the flowers are more violet. It goes into dormancy in mid to late summer, surfaces in early spring then flowers in late spring early summer.

If cut to the ground after flowering it will not repeat flower but will send up a fresh mound of foliage which is more sun hardy and beautiful
